Maurice Muia is the Founder and CEO of Muia Materials, the blockchain platform for distributing electric battery materials to manufacturing and recycling companies. Muia Materials was founded in 2021 with the vision to electrify transportation for developed and emerging markets. The platform plans to secure new customers, ranging from investor-owned manufacturers and recyclers to small artisanal miners, all with a common purpose – broad adoption of electrified mobility through responsible mining and recycling practices.
Maurice spent almost a decade of his career in transmission substation design, working for companies such as Ameren, City Utilities, and Abengoa. Most recently, he worked for the Natural Resources Defense Council as the inaugural Climate Advisor for the City of St. Louis. Muia holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. He also earned his Master of Science in Sustainability from Saint Louis University. He has been featured in USA Today, St. Louis Public Radio, The Saint Louis American, The Saint Louis Business Journal, and many other top-tier publications for his insightful contributions to the climate economy.
