Eric leads Electric Transportation Strategy and Policy at SMUD where he develops customer solutions to speed the transition to “electric fuel.” He spent the first half of his 26-year career in the U.S. Navy and then at Boeing before transitioning to the e-mobility sector where he held various leadership roles in Strategy, Program Management, and Product Development. Eric led the $10M global Automotive XPRIZE competition for super fuel-efficient cars and later conceived and launched Plug In America’s PlugStarSM dealer EV training and certification program, which now supports hundreds of dealers across the nation. Eric holds joint graduate degrees in Engineering & Management and Technology & Policy from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Technology and Policy from the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis and now serves on California Electric Transportation Coalition’s Board of Directors.
