Mr. Rodriguez joined AASHTO as Program Director for Environment in October 2022. In his role at AASHTO Mr. Rodriguez manages the activities of two standing committees, the Committee on Environment and Sustainability and the Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience. These committees and their sub-committees focus on topics such as air quality, climate changes, decarbonization, permitting, stormwater, NEPA, hazardous waste and hazardous materials, risk and resilience, and emergency response. Mr. Rodriguez also serves as the Director of AASHTO’s Center for Environmental Excellence. The Center was created in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration to promote environmental stewardship and encourage innovative ways to streamline the transportation delivery process. The Center is designed to serve as a resource for transportation professionals seeking technical assistance, training, information exchange, partnership-building opportunities, and quick and easy access to environmental tools. Prior to joining to joining AASHTO Mr. Rodriguez worked 11 years for the DC Department of Energy and Environment in water compliance monitoring and enforcement. He most recently served as the Associate Director for Inspection and Enforcement. Prior to his career with the DC Government he was an environmental consultant for 10 years with AECOM in the oil and gas, agriculture, transportation, steel and real estate industries.
