The U.S. National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization (Blueprint) is a landmark strategy for cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transportation sector by 2050 led by EPA, DOE, DOT, and HUD. The Blueprint is an opportunity for EPA to utilize a variety of tools in its toolbox while coordinating with key federal partners to tackle these important strategies.
Funding, regulations, research, and industry-government partnerships must all play a critical part if we are to reach our goal of a decarbonized transportation system. However, each of these approaches must fill appropriate roles and be synchronized to have the decarbonizing effects we need while advancing economic and societal interests. This session will focus on EPA's efforts to use these tools as a means address the need to decarbonize the transportation sector and outline opportunities and challenges the agency faces to achieve significant emissions reductions.
